Presale
Meaning: Early ticket access before the general public.
Common confusion: “I bought membership so I’m in.” Not always. Many tours require BOTH:
- Membership (paid fan club, or official app membership)
- Presale registration (opt-in form, eligibility check, sometimes lottery)
What to do: Follow the artist’s official notice + confirm the official ticket vendor for your city.
Verified Fan / Fan Verification
Meaning: A system to reduce bots by verifying real fans. Often includes registration and a selection process.
Reality check: Verified Fan doesn’t guarantee tickets. It usually grants access to a presale window or a code.
Queue / Waiting Room / Randomized line
Waiting room: A short pre-queue period before sales open.
Queue position: Sometimes randomized at onsale time, sometimes based on entry time—varies by platform.
What helps: Being logged in, payment saved, and ready 10–15 minutes early. Refreshing endlessly often hurts more than helps.
Platinum / Dynamic Pricing
Meaning: Prices change based on demand in real time (like flights).
What to watch: “Platinum” can mean the same seat becomes much more expensive during peak demand.
What to do: Set a max budget before you enter the queue so you don’t panic-buy.
Resale / Face Value Exchange / Transfer
Official resale: The platform’s approved resale marketplace (usually safest).
Face value exchange: Resale capped at original price (best for fans, not always offered).
Transfer: Ability to send a ticket to someone else; sometimes locked until close to show date.
VIP / Soundcheck / Packages
VIP package: A bundle that may include early entry, soundcheck, merch, or special areas.
Important: VIP benefits can be non-transferable and may require ID checks.
GA, Seated, Obstructed View
- GA (General Admission): Standing area, first-come positioning inside.
- Seated: Assigned seat number.
- Obstructed view: Lower price but the view may be blocked by rigs/poles/angles.
Scam vocabulary (and red flags)
- “Guaranteed code” sellers (usually fake)
- “Friends & Family only” payment demands (high risk)
- Pressure tactics: “Pay in 5 minutes or I sell to someone else”
Rule of thumb: If it’s not the official vendor or an official resale channel, treat it as high risk.
